Dr. David Gryfe graduated as a Chiropractor from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 1992 and has been actively helping people achieve their health goals ever since. He is a certified specialist in Sports Injury management with the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences Canada and has worked closely with athletes and teams from weekend warriors to professionals in a wide variety of sports. In addition to a broad range of Chiropractic techniques his training includes excellence in Acupuncture, Trigenics Myoneural Medicine, Shiatsu, T’ai Chi, Craniosacral Therapy, and Chirodontic treatment (for the co-management of cranio-cervical and Jaw disorders).
Dr. David Gryfe has a strong interest in promoting healthy lifestyle choices and is well-versed in nutritional therapy and exercise as well as relaxation techniques. His favourite leisure activities include practising T’ai Chi on a sunny morning in the park, 18 holes of golf with good friends, laughs over dinner with his lovely wife and enjoying the victories and foibles of his children.
Dr. David John Starmer is a chiropractor who combines evidence-based chiropractic care with a wellness approach to help his patients recover and prevent future recurrences of pain. He is truly passionate about taking a holistic and lifestyle approach to health and wants to share this with his patients.
David Starmer comes to us from Mississauga, Ontario. He majored in Kinesiology and received a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario and then attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) for his four-year post-graduate education in chiropractic care. Dr. Starmer has obtained in-depth medical training in chiropractic and allopathic modalities. He completed a one-year internship at the H.K. Lee walk-in clinic where he not only worked with the general public but also with patients from the Centre of Mental Health and Addiction. Upon graduation, Dr. Starmer received recognition for obtaining clinic honours and received an award from the York Peel Chiropractic Society based on his academic record, altruistic attitude, great rapport with patients, and volunteer experience.
He is also a former professional BMX racer who represented Canada in the World Championships in 2001. This interest in fitness and health has strongly influenced his approach to chiropractic care. Dr. Starmer tries to use a unique blend of treatment options involving chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, soft tissue therapy (Active Release Techniques), gentle joint mobilizations, interferential current therapy, ergonomic advice, orthotics, and personalized and progressive therapeutic exercise programs.
Dr. Starmer is thrilled to be joining the Oakdale Chiropractic Clinic. In his spare time, he enjoys keeping fit through cycling, golf, skiing, and resistance training. Whether it is an emergency or a long-standing problem, he addresses the issue in two ways: resolving the current pain, then addressing the underlying body imbalances in order to prevent and minimize recurrence. Dr. Karandeep S. Riar earned a Honours Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University and then went on to complete a Doctorate in Chiropractic. While completing his one-year internship, Dr. Riar was recognized with the health centre award for clinical excellence. Dr. Riar has obtained in-depth training in chiropractic adjusting, myofascial release therapy, functional movement analysis, the use of various modalities, orthotics therapy and rehabilitation therapy.
Dr. Riar is a firm advocate of patient-centered evidence-based healthcare. He spends a lot of time keeping up-to-date on current literature and attending various musculoskeletal seminars to expand his knowledge and apply it to patient care. Dr. Riar`s approach consists of getting patients out of pain as well as identifying and correcting aberrant motion and motor patterns that led to the patient's problem in the first place.
In his spare time, Dr. Riar enjoys keeping fit through resistance training, running and playing hockey.
Naturopathic medicine is a unique and comprehensive approach to improving health, diagnosing and treating illness and preventing disease. It encompasses treating each person as an individual, healing the whole self (including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects), and addressing the root cause of the illness.
Poonam Patel comes to us from Mississauga, Ontario. She majored in Biology and received her Bachelors in Science degree from the University of Toronto and then attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) for her four-year post-graduate education in naturopathic medicine. Dr. Patel has obtained in-depth medical training in naturopathic and allopathic modalities and completed a one-year internship at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic.
In her practice Dr. Patel integrates a variety of naturopathic modalities including nutrition and lifestyle counseling, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) including acupuncture, botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, hydrotherapy and physical medicine. She has also taken extensive training in, and is licensed to practice parenteral (I.V.) therapy as a treatment modality. Her special interests include women’s health issues, gastrointestinal disorders and chronic pain management.
Dr. Patel is licensed under the Board of Drugless Therapies - Naturopathy (BDDT-N). The BDDT-N is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in council and regulates the practice of naturopathic medicine. Dr. Patel is also a registered member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
Kajal is a Biology and Neuroscience graduate from McMaster University. She is currently a student at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, working towards her Naturopathic Medicine post-graduate accreditation. She is a familiar face in the neighborhood since she has lived here most of her life and is an active member of a community initiative to improve our neighbourhood. When she is not studying, Kajal enjoys volunteering, cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She always has a smile on her face and appreciates the company of others.
We would like to welcome Nadiene Shand, a Registered Massage Therapist to the clinic. Although Nadiene is a new addition to the clinic she is not an unfamiliar face to the neighbourhood. She has lived within the vicinity for twenty-one years. Her true passion, lies within the well being of those she treats through various modalities such as trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, PNF stretching and rhythmic mobilizations. Along side her profession, Nadiene’s past time includes home renovations and gardening.
Raymond is a Registered Massage Therapist graduate from Kikkawa College. He is also a certified aerobics instructor. He holds a Level I and Level II Personal trainer designation along with a fitness and nutrition diploma. We are very proud to have Raymond on out team of professionals.
Mila Kasheunik is a Registered Massage Therapist who graduated with honours from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. She is also certified in Pregnancy Massage and got the experience at Women's College Hospital.Is constantly studying in search of the ways of improvement of publics' health.
Ramiz is a Registered Massage Therapist graduate from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. He incorporates general Swedish massage techniques, myofascial release techniques and various modalities of stretching into his treatments. This has proven to be helpful to reduce general pain and discomfort as a result of various muscle pathologies that patients experience. In his free time Ramiz enjoys sports activities as soccer and swimming. Ramiz is available during the week as well as during the weekend.
Linda Woloshyn has over 20 years of experience as a registered nurse in a variety of clinical settings. Linda received craniosacral therapy after a very bad motor vehicle accident in 1990. This treatment inspired her to begin her study of CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute. She studied to the advanced level and was a certified teaching assistance with the Upledger Institute for over 6 years. Linda provides a safe and supportive presence and has extensive experience working with people who are healing from motor vehicle accidents, past traumatic events, stress, depression and painful chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia and migraine headaches.
Angie Mora, the central crystal of a master piece. She will support you, she will go to no limits to help you. She is the voice you hear when you call, she is the pleasant face you see when you come in. Angie worked in the insurance industry for many years and then decided to spend more time at home with her two kids and husband, which is when she decided to join the Humber Family.
Jennifer is a part time receptionist here at Humber Family. She is currently a nursing student at UNB-Humber working on her BN and has experience with all kinds of patients in many different health care settings. Jenn is especially interested in the fields of patient teaching and mental health. Helping patients feel welcome and at home in the office is her favourite part of of working at Humber Family.
As a Clinic Director, his primary roles include operations management, Marketing, and Sales.
Tom brings more than three decades of experience in customer service, retailing, sales and marketing. He has served as Sr. Vice President, President and CEO of multi national and privately held marketing companies in Canada, the US and Brazil.
As a recognized marketing expert, Tom has shared his expertise at industry conferences in Canada, the US as well as Malaysia, Indonesia, Argentina, and Brazil and has been quoted in Marketing Magazine, COLLOQUY and the Financial Post.
Tom holds a diploma in International Marketing and Business Administration.
